Frequently Asked Questions:
If you have a question about the NANPS, please send an email to Scott at [email protected].
Q: What is the Northern Alexandria Native Plant Sale?
A: The NANPS is a labor of love, run on a break-even basis by Scott Knudsen and Jennifer Pease, aided by volunteers who are their friends and the Tree Stewards of Arlington and Alexandria (www.treestewards.org). This event hosts native plant vendors who handle their own sales transactions. The vendors are all individual businesses, so please do not take plants from one vendor's booth to another. (The NANPS event itself is neither a business nor a fundraiser—no one makes money from it except the vendors.)

Q: Where can I find information about native plants?
A: There are Information Tables located on the grass near the church building. Next to those tables, members of the Virginia Native Plant Society (www.vnps.org) will have their own table where they will answer questions and offer advice about plants. VNPS members will also have free brochures and several nominally priced guides about native plants. One such guide will be "Native Plants for Northern Virginia" from Plant NOVA Natives (www.plantnovanatives.org).

Q: Where are the restrooms and how do I access them?
A: The Church of St. Clement graciously makes its bathrooms available for customers to the native plant sale. To enter the church building, ask a Plant Sale Volunteer at the Information Tables to open the church's Parish Hall door. Signs will point the way to the bathrooms. (Please do not walk around the church building except to use the bathrooms. Please close the Parish Hall door behind you so that it latches, when you leave the church building.)

Q: I have lost something of mine. What can I do?
A: If you lose something important, text Scott Knudsen at 571-232-0375. You can also find Scott or Jennifer at the sale. Look for the couple wearing bright orange (for Scott) or bright yellow (for Jennifer) safety vests. Please be aware that any lost plants not left in the "Plant Sitting Area" will be extremely difficult or impossible to find.

Q: Why can't we have more "Plant Taxis" at the sale?
A: Unfortunately, we don't have space to store any more Radio Flyer wagons. The storage closet for these native plant sales is packed full after each event. Eleven wagons is all this closet will hold!
